Talks for Years 6-13
Creative writing workshops for Years 6-9
For KS 2 and 3 I talk about the importance of reading for pleasure, and my own story as a writer – which happened as a result of winning a competition run by JK Rowling’s first publisher, Barry Cunningham.
For older students, I focus more closely on creative careers as a potential option. My talks are funny, highly illustrated, and passionate about books. They’re based on years of experience, travelling to schools across the country, and designed to engage students as readers and writers.
I give a variety of creative writing workshops, from ‘How to kick-start your story’ to the importance of cover design, and making a magazine.
Additionally, I give talks to Years 9 and above about building girls’ self-confidence, ‘Winning Like a Girl’. These include a tool-kit for dealing with stressful situations.
A brochure giving more details on my visits is available from the Schools page on my website.
